Editors’ Note
Dear Reader,
The Scratch Post staff is proud to bring you its issue “Flux,” which invites you to consider the human experience through the lenses of memory, reflection, and elation. As leading editors, we curated this issue with a focus on memorializing instances that reveal the wrinkles of everyday life.
With our third issue, we wanted to solidify our staff and create a community that handled submissions with the attention they deserved. We are grateful for the array of talent we were able to witness as an editorial team, as it reminds us of the beautiful spectrum that is art. The structure of this issue was designed to guide you through the turbulence of life while honoring the festive, lighter times that peel back layers of existential weight. The "Suspension" works showcase a calmer period of life with some melancholy, while "Pulse" works are intense and have darker themes, and "Zenith" works showcase joy and contentment after the conclusion of this turmoil.
We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the creation of this issue, from our staff and advisors to our featured artists and writers. It’s a joy to see that creativity on our campus is flourishing and can offer us all an outlet during the highs and lows of our lives, as well as unite us through our shared experience as undergraduates at the University of Kentucky.
We are delighted to present the third issue of The Scratch Post. We hope you will find fragments of yourself reflected in its pages.
With love and care from your Editors-in-Chief,
Audrey Arnold and Ari Contreras
